REVIEW | N/A |
Description | The MT-VOICE assessment is structured into four key domains: cognitive, communication, psychosocial, and physical/psycho-motor. Each section offers a systematic approach integrating music throughout to evaluate the person’s responses, strengths, challenges, interests and potential for engagement within these areas. Together, these components create a holistic picture of the person to guide an individualized person-centred music therapy program. Following these sections is a narrative assessment summary, providing an opportunity to document the person’s experience and feedback on the assessment, the therapist’s assessment summary, a checklist for identifying initial goals, and a place to note risks or implications for music therapy and recommended services. The assessment portion of the MT-VOICE is intended to be implemented in its entirety when appropriate to gather the comprehensive picture of the person. The form can be completed in a single session or over several sessions with the person (and if appropriate, their caregiver). In honouring a person-centered assessment approach music therapists can also select relevant components for domain-specific assessment. |
