Communication and Information Studies (CIS)

The CIS knowledge group brings together researchers with interests and backgrounds within media, communication, and information studies. A mutual interest of the group’s members is the possible and actual application – as well as theoretical developments – of mediated and interpersonal communication, and communication and information technologies. The knowledge group consists of a broad range of scientists at AAU Copenhagen. In the CIS knowledge group, research is carried out on:

  • Interpersonal and media-based organization communication and rhetoric
  • Virtual and game-based environments
  • Sustainability and ICT ethics
  • Media sociology and political communication
  • Media psychology and media aesthetics
  • Media art, media sound, and media interfaces
  • Information analysis and Big Data

CIS’ research is useful to a wide range of communication professionals who wish to develop their communication practices creatively and strategically in concrete mediated and non-mediated contexts. Research from CIS could also contribute to gaining marketing advantages and strengthening an organization’s legitimacy as well as producing and sustaining ethically justifiable communication practices at all levels of an organization.
